Classic Kenya: Three National Parks

Upon arrival at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Nairobi, a driver-guide will meet you and take you to your hotel. After checking in and resting a bit from your journey, you’ll begin exploring Kenya’s bustling capital. In the afternoon, you’ll visit the famous Giraffe Center—a conservation organization dedicated to preserving the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe. Here, you’ll have a unique opportunity to interact with these gentle giants from an elevated feeding platform, learn about wildlife conservation efforts, and take unforgettable photos. The center will serve as a wonderful introduction to Kenya’s rich natural heritage before you embark on your safari adventure. As evening falls, head to the world-famous “Carnivore” restaurant for an unforgettable welcome dinner. Considered one of Africa’s most iconic restaurants, it offers an extensive selection of meats, expertly grilled and served in a traditional buffet-style setting. After dinner, return to the hotel, where you’ll spend the night.

After an early breakfast at the hotel, depart from Nairobi and head southwest through the picturesque Great Rift Valley to the world-famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. Along the way, enjoy breathtaking views of the escarpment and make short stops for photos and sightseeing. You’ll arrive at your safari lodge just in time for lunch and some rest. After lunch, set out on your first daytime safari drive through the vast savannas of the Maasai Mara. The reserve is home to an incredible variety of wildlife, including lions, elephants, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, cheetahs, and countless species of antelope. As the sun begins to set over the golden plains, return to camp for dinner and an overnight stay surrounded by the sounds of the African wilderness.

Enjoy a cup of tea or coffee early in the morning before heading out on a dawn safari—this is one of the best times to see predators in action and observe wildlife when they are most active. The cool morning temperatures create ideal conditions for spotting lions, leopards, hyenas, and other fascinating wildlife. Return to camp for breakfast and spend your free time enjoying the camp’s amenities and the beautiful surroundings. After lunch, set out on another extensive safari drive through various sectors of the reserve. Your experienced guide will track wildlife and share insights about the ecosystem, Maasai culture, and conservation efforts. For an additional fee, you can arrange optional activities, such as a visit to a traditional Maasai village or an early-morning hot-air balloon safari. At the end of the day, return to camp for dinner and your second night in the Maasai Mara, enjoying the breathtaking views of the African sunset.

After breakfast, you’ll depart from the Maasai Mara and travel through picturesque countryside toward Lake Nakuru National Park. Along the way, you’ll have a wonderful opportunity to observe life in a Kenyan village and admire the ever-changing landscapes of the Rift Valley. You’ll arrive at the hotel around lunchtime. In the afternoon, enjoy a safari in Lake Nakuru National Park, known for its populations of white and black rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, waterbucks, buffalo, and a wide variety of birds. Depending on the season, you may also see large flocks of flamingos along the lake’s shores. As evening falls, you’ll return to the lodge, where you can relax and enjoy panoramic views of the park without leaving the comfort of your cozy room.

After breakfast, we depart from Nakuru and head to the picturesque highlands of central Kenya and the scenic Aberdare National Park. The route winds through lush agricultural landscapes, tea plantations, and forested hills. We’ll arrive in the Aberdare region in time for lunch, followed by a transfer to a unique hotel built overlooking a floodlit watering hole and salt lick. This location offers guests an exceptional opportunity to observe wildlife directly from the hotel’s viewing platforms. Throughout the day and evening, you’ll be able to watch elephants, buffalo, bush antelopes, giant forest hogs, and other wildlife come to the watering hole. Enjoy dinner at the hotel while continuing to observe the fascinating nightlife of the wild.

Wake up to the fresh mountain air of the Aberdare region and enjoy breakfast while taking in the beautiful forest scenery. Depending on your flight schedule, check out of the lodge and head back to Nairobi. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you’ll have the opportunity to do some last-minute shopping or explore the sights before being transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your onward flight home, thus concluding your unforgettable adventure in Kenya, which will leave you with wonderful memories of wildlife, landscapes, and authentic African hospitality.
